All of the negative media attention regarding the number of foreclosures and the dismal home sales over the last several months strikes fear into the hearts of the average homebuyer. For several years, it seemed that the real estate market was the only thing that was keeping our economy alive. It's impossible not to be concerned about the future of home ownership and about the real estate market at large. Having enjoyed a prosperous career in real estate for 20 years, I have seen agents come and go, good markets and years that were not so good. While lenders adjust their policies and practices, and new construction has slowed to a crawl, I have to believe that the real estate market will start to recover in the Spring of 2009, except in those geographic areas where homes were appreciating at unreasonably high rates, which will obviously take longer. - Sat Apr 26 2008, 11:10
Having a home inspected prior to listing is a good idea. Some sellers however have been reluctant to spend the extra money , often believing their home is flawless or that the buyers will not find the flaws. - Wed Apr 23 2008, 09:22
