There are many homes for sale in lots of neighborhoods. We are currently in a Buyers Market, companies are relocating employees. Now is the time to pick and choose! Not to mention the amazing tax credit for first time home buyers until 2008. There is lots of information about Bexley - and there are many neighborhoods similar. I can only answer your questions with more questions---is there a particular school district, square footage, amenities, time frame your are working? Yes, I think auctions do work in this market. I work with several investors and it has been my experience that at these actions there are people who want deals and think because the house is on auction it is a DEAL! Also, the momentum of bidders can raise the price to the sellers price point. The seller can make the auction subject to him/her agreeing to sells price. Question you will need to answer would be - What is your purpose for buying reduced homes, are you flipping or holding? How long do you intend to hold the property? There are several areas that would provide the living experience you suggested. There is historic Churchill , The Fan, Forest Hill area, Oregon Hill, Byrd Park area, Bainbridge is a new and upcomming area where the city plans to build around the river. How close to you want to be to parks, restaurants, shops and price range will play a major role. Send your email address with your criteria and I will email homes from those areas. I see no one has mentioned Historic Churchill, where home prices range according to square footage and proxi to Broad Street and/or Chimorazo Park.
