A 7% commission rather then 6% should not have anything to do with more traffic. It can however, according to the agency increase the paid advertising listings get. This is because a commission is broken down into costs of the agency including advertising which is expensive; out of pocket costs to the agent including travel and in some cases franchise fees. I think consumers are confused as to who gets the commission and how much. An agent does not receive any monetary result until a lisitng is sold, The agent is correct a co-broke is paid out of the commission total ex. 6 or 7%. Some realtors may use the percentage difference to drive them to show a property more often. I can tell you not all realtors do that. I show according to what the buyer wants and needs in their price range. I hope this helps Ben. - Wed Jul 29 2009, 13:15
