open houses are for people who think they may be interested in a specific house in a specifc area. The multiple listing system states when public open houses are. If you want more information about a specific home, your best bet, if you're not working with anyone, is to call the listing agent directly. The first thing you really need to do prior to looking at homes is get yourself pre approved. Agents really only consider buyers serious if they have taken this step. Just remember, that any agent can show you any house that is listed in the MLS. ABR (accredited buyers agents) are your best bet because you become their client instead of their customer and there is a difference. I have my ABR accrediation and I would be more than happy to explain the difference to you and how this benefits you as a home buyer. In the meantime, good luck with your search. Before you do anything, sit down with a pen and paper, make two columns, your needs and your wishes.
