The "Born to Run" house is located in the West End of Long Branch. Bruce lived there from 1974-1976. He speaks often of writing the Born to Run album while sitting composing on the front porch or on the edge of his bed. The house is presently under contract, set to close in the next two weeks. The response was incredible, it was carried worldwide on television, a documentary was filmed there for Bruce's 60th birthday in September and multiple offers were received. My web site had over 65,000 visitors for the house to date!
When the Born to Run album was reissued in 2005 for the 30th anniversary of the original release, a documentary was filmed in which Bruce made a trip back to 7 1/2 West End Court to reminisce. That documentary on DVD comes with the 30th anniversary edition of the CD.
To answer your question, it is a two bedroom, one bath, 828 square foot cottage with 9 foot ceilings throughout and 12 foot ceiling in the living room. It is less than 100 steps to ocean beach access and at the time it was listed, was the least priced single family home in the West End. Aside from the Bruce connection, the "highest and best use" of the property in appraisal terms is commercial. Located in the C-3 Neighborhood Commercial zone, the options are endless.
You can see a bit more of the house at my web site at
