Nobuhisa - It can vary from location to location, but is not set in stone. In Western Washington I have seen commission's, (usually paid by the seller) range from 5%-8%. Individual broker policies may differ but feel free to shop around and ask. A 6% commission is prpbably most common, yet a real estate can really make a difference in the sale of your condo. An agent familiar with your area can guide as to how many condo's are currently on the market, which ones are your competition, average time to sell...the list goes on. Though some individuals encourage the For Sale By Owner mentality, they usually don't know that FSBO's sell for on average 12-18% less than comparable homes listed by a Real Estate Agent. Good agents are paid to know your market and walk you through every step of the process. Interview a few and ask lots of questions. Good Luck! - Sat Jul 12 2008, 15:49
