I am partial to my NYC education, so YES! there are good schools, they may not be great or awesome, but they are good. - Wed May 9 2007, 18:44
ABSOLUTELY! Some of our high schools are very highly respected, and very difficult to get into. Stuyvesant, Bronx Science, several others, and we also have satellite schools or career specific schools for the arts, computer science etc. The only limit to get into these schools is your childs ability to test, and letters of recommendation, interview skills, grades etc. With a city this size competition is fierce. - Wed May 9 2007, 18:19
My guess is the beach...? or the proximity of this portion to the beach. It may be one of those things like "yorkville" and the "upper east side" or "lenox Hill" these are not interchangable, but are included in the same area of the "upper east side" - Wed May 9 2007, 18:08
Well lemme tell ya, according to Wiki, it sure is - sounds cute, small, quaint, so YES it is a HAVEN! - Wed May 9 2007, 18:02
So, this is a tough question. One the one hand, if you work in downtown manhattan, you should live in Manhattan... then if you enjoy peace and quiet, it is not about the Borough, as much as the neighborhood... so I'll tell you not to live in the village, SoHo, NoHo, Chelsea, et al - but live in the upper east side, gramercy park, some parts of the upper west side - then downtown brooklyn is "quiet" DUMBO - sorta, windsor terrace, park slope, tough call. - Wed May 9 2007, 18:00
