There has been a lot of good information below. I will just add my two cents. As agents we do a lot of work that people do not see so that we can be of the best possibe service to our clients (at least I do) - unless there are special circumstances, the listing agent negotiates a commission with the seller and then the listing agents offers part of that commission to the buyers agent - so technically the seller is the one paying out the commission - a buyer gets services from an agent without there being any cost involved for those services to the buyer (unless there is a transaction fee that many agents have started charging). - Wed Aug 15 2007, 08:17
