property taxes are available for specfic properties at online through the lane county assessors office by address http://www.co.lane.or.us/TaxStatement/Search.aspx by and large taxes in Eugene are higher then those in surrounding lane county and taxes on newer houses are much higher than those on houses 10 years old or more.

Chinook is very good and Property Management Concepts is also reputable. I would definitely rent before you buy. Try to stay away from Bell Realty they are not recommended at all.

Look at a site called http://www.walkscore.com to see the amenities in different neighborhoods like restaurants, parks, etc. The best zipcodes are 97405 and 97403 some of 97401 is ok if it is close in. You can also try http://www.zillow.com and post a thread there. You can get specific Eugene info from Eugene people. Good luck.
