Avondale Estates is returning to its glory. A Publix is supposed to be built this year in the downtown area. Decatur trendy restaurants and galleries are slowing moving down the college ave. corridor. In my opinion, it is a good place to buy a home. However, I would buy in the unincorporated Dekalb section for the tax break. Unincorporated Dekalb area of Avondale is becoming a very desirable area and the houses seem to be holding their value in a depressed market.. - Sat Aug 16 2008, 10:58
