LA Esquire answered:
You're kidding, right? Thanks to politicians that waste money on public transport projects that sound great but are expensive and useful to few, wasteful carpool lanes, and the lack of spending on, and space for, road-building, LA's traffic problems are bad and only getting worse. That is why is not uncommon for Angelenos to move across town to follow their jobs rather than commute. To get a better answer, be more specific about the places you might be driving/commuting. In my general area and experience, the 405, 101, 5, and 10 are all pretty much maxed out and useless at various substantial times of the day. - Fri Jul 27 2007, 02:56

I think Silverlake and Echo Park are allegedly coming up and cheaper. IMHO San Pedro area has more room for upward growth. If it's aleady hip, it's probably expensive. - Fri Jul 27 2007, 02:51

Some of the lofts that use to presell out are now done and still not sold, so my downtown source tells me. - Fri Jul 27 2007, 02:48

How does it lookto buy in the next 12-18 months?

LA Esquire answered:
Totally depends on where. To answer Bridgette, was she in the business in the late 80s and early 90s? Many areas suffered significant declines at that time. Even today, in my local area market, one ZIP in Burbank, CA lost about 25% in the last year. - Fri Jul 27 2007, 02:32

What makes Santa Clarita homes for sale so desirable?

LA Esquire answered:
Jim disses the Valley, but praises Santa Clarita, which is entirely odd - he calls the SFV a 'mess', even though much of LA basin has lower property values than many parts of the valley, the valley is outgrowing the la basin, and the valley voted to secede from la - it was only the la resident that kept us tied into la city, for our tax dollars. it's hard to see how santa clarita, built of tract homes, could be cooler than just about anything, including the valley. most of those who live there, in my experience, have long since stopped worrying about what is 'cool', and have moved there for the schools, prices, and (relative lack of) crime. - Fri Jul 27 2007, 02:21
I think a lot of has to do with what makes most of the rest of LA County undesirable - high cost and poor schools. - Thu Jul 26 2007, 01:02
