It was given on a check list that I made out for the service man that was coming to do some repairs in the basement at the time he was going to paint the basement floor because the paint was bubbling and chipped. I asked him if he could take a look at the wall and the floor because I notice a gap between the floor and the wall where it seems to be crumbling. Also, there was a flow of water on the floor which I couldn’t determine for where. He replied the floor and wall was fine that basements will do that. But he did state he would like the mgmt company know about the water they would have to open up the dry wall to determine where the water was coming from this was late Feb to early March. They came out to paint when I came home that evening I had a key holder on my door. (Someone took my key with out asking and place it in this holder outside my door). I hadn't heard anything (The service man normally leaves messages by phone). When I went down I notice that they stop along the path where the water was coming in. It wasn't until three weeks later the mgmt co. called me at work to ask if someone could come and cut the wall open I stated yes. Someone came the wall remain like that until mid April when the service man came back un-announced. I'm not sure if he came on his own or not. But he was prepared to come in on his own which he couldn't because the outside door was locked where you couldn't get to the key holder. He told me he was coming to seal the wall up since he hadn't heard from anyone. I told him I wasn't aware of what he was speaking about I wasn't told anything. We both took a look the basement he stated the walls had been waterproof before maybe it was a crack in it that we couldn't see. Also, I asked about the water on the walls that seem to be like spats he told me it was where water was raising in the wall. He needs to tell the mgmt co that they need to try something else. He placed the piece that was cut out of the wall back up but didn't seal it because we need to know more. Now this is where my problem really comes in. I hadn't heard anything now it June a month before it time for me to give notice about extending my lease. I call the mgmt co and I asked what was going on with the work in the house or lack of. I was told in a very nice/nasty way what did I mean. They were told that everything was fine and the wall was sealed. I told them that the wall was still open and the floor was rusting from the water. I was asked was the floor wet now I stated no but it still leaks when it rain (This was June 5 Thursday) I was told they need to get back with the owner and see if they could get someone back out (they normally call so I know) they did the next day without calling to let me know. I only knew this because my son called on his way home and ask me did I think it was ok for him to go into the house. I told him to and give the phone to who was in the house which he did. I was told by the service man that he was called out to seal the wall (Friday June 6) I knew it suppose to rain that weekend which it did and the basement floor was wet again. I was called at work Monday by the man who was painting the floor he sound like he was upset I told him the floor was wet could he relay that back. Now all of a sudden the lady I been dealing with who knows to call me at work during the day up to 6pm is calling leaving a message on my home phone. So, now we missing each other because I don't get home to after they close and when I do call back she sounds upset stating if she knew the floor was wet she wouldn't had the wall sealed up. I re-stated it was seal leaking on and off you heard what you wanted to hear. Once again I was told they needed to talk to the owner. I heard nothing else until I had to send notice that I wasn't staying after my lease was up in Oct of this year. They quickly called me to see if they could start setting up appoints to show the house? I stated how can they try to show something they hadn't finished working on? I sent in my notice not that I wanted to moved but I felt if I was being told to move by not being able to use the full house and no communication with me. (At this time I talking with the owner) He states he wasn't aware that was the reason let him look into it and he would call me back that was two weeks ago. He had someone called to ask if it would be ok to show the house while I was at work which I already stated since I had kids I would only allow it on the weekend when I would be home. I asked to speak with the owner and told him I had been waiting for his call he just replied that right (smog) he waiting on the same person who been working on the basement and his tied up right know . I asked if he could use anyone else he chooses not to and he wouldn’t give me the number where I could call. He just stated his main job is getting the floor done and just wait for the man to call when he had time. - Sun Aug 3 2008, 10:02
