Coming from someone born and raised on Long Island; currently living in Suffolk County with a family, I have to say it's just NOT the place it used to be and it never will be. It has its perks (beaches, close proximity to NYC, e.t.c) but IMO, the bad outweighs the good. It is just too expensive to live here, the traffic is insane, there are houses being built right to left and the Island is just too populated. Honestly, as much as Long Island will always hold a special place in my heart, it's time to leave and move on; I just don't like it here anymore. It's sad actually. You may like it, some love it! Most of the schools are excellent, so that isn't really a problem. It's very expensive to live here but it can be nice. Good luck and please visit for a long time before you decide to move down here. Like I said, Long Island is not for everyone. - Fri Aug 1 2008, 21:51
Thank you all so much. I am going to North Carolina next week, so I will definitley take a look around! I'm so amazed at how low the prices are their. Thank you so much! - Thu Jul 31 2008, 15:55
Thank you SO much everyone. I'm almost positive North Carolina is the place for us! Larry, i'm looking for a nice size house. 3+ bedrooms. The maximum price would be around 325,000ish; although i'm willing to spend a bit more, less is better. & If you can send me the link, please do.
I will check out every website and better my search. SO far; I think i'm liking the triangle area. I believe that's what it is (Raleigh, Durham and I believe Cary?) However, how far is this area from beaches, Charlotte and other attractions.
Again, thank you all for your time. - Wed Jul 16 2008, 16:42
And I forgot to mention. My husband is in the Construction field; mostly in concrete & buildings. If anyone could recommend areas and such and some possible homes/suggestions. I would really like to start this move, it's just so hard with all the factors to consider and knowing very little about the area. - Tue Jul 15 2008, 21:20
Both of your houses are lovely. Unfortunatley, by the time I can even start looking for houses, yours will already be sold. Andy, your house seems absolutely perfect for us and I love the price, i'm sure your house will sell very fast. Good luck to you two. - Wed Jul 30 2008, 20:49
Thank you very, very much! - Tue Jul 29 2008, 13:22
Thank you. We have been researching the web like crazy and are thinking about the Lancaster County area. Like I said, we have visited numerous times and just love it, so why not live there? I'm still considering other things if anyone has some input. Also the West Chester area seems lovely as well.
Quick question, if we are planning on moving in the summer of 2009, when should we put our current house on the market? & When should my husband begin applying to jobs? It might sound silly but I really have no idea.
Again, THANK YOU. Any other info is appreciated. - Sun Jul 27 2008, 12:04
