As you've seen by the other responses there are actually quite a few neighborhoods in austin under 200k. For some reason, many realtors don't seem to know about one of my favorite neighborhoods in this price range: the Crossing at Onion Creek. (slaughter lane/I 35 78744) Really close and convenient to downtown (7 minutes) It's a young neighborhood but is growing up nicely! There are cute pastel cottages and some texas stone or brick. It's worth a look! - Thu May 29 2008, 16:46
In response to Lynn 911.The DR Horton salesperson told us light retail maybe, but because of watershed issues they didn't think anything would get approved. They are supposedly putting up a 6 foot fence. Not nearly high enough to block visual or noise or idling car emmissions. - Wed May 7 2008, 18:47
I have been searching for reasonable real estate in central and east austin. Definitely have Chestnut Commons at the top of my list! I have lived in austin for many years and have kept an eye on real estate values. This looks to be a great area!!! Good luck in your search. Check out the web site. I think it's chestnutcommons.com. I would recommend using a realtor who knows the area to get the best deal. Many of the new develpoments will tell you that the "in house" realtor is all you need. I'm using an outside realtor to negotiate the best deal and make sure I'm represented fairly. Good luck! - Wed Apr 23 2008, 14:44
