About Me
I've lived in the Bay Area for the last few years (from south bay to San Francisco), but was raised in Los Angeles - Cheviot Hills to be exact. Lived there for 18 years. I spent two years in Boston and another two in Ithaca, NY as well. Formally, I was the product manager for Trulia Voices. Presently I'm attending Stanford Business School.

Should Trulia moderate more? Less?

Megan answered:
Well articulated post! I think the community should moderate but it is the role of the platform to allow this to happen in an effective manner. While Digg.com has its flaws and community moderation tools can be abused, methods can be put in place to monitor bad behavior. In sum, I'm in favor of Digg style feedback systems when coupled with monitoring mechanisms to help catch significant or large abuses (you can't catch everything but you can probably catch the most serious cases). - Fri Nov 16 2007, 16:57

Megan answered:
hi all - megan here from trulia. first, i just want to make sure you know that we're not ignoring your requests. internally we've put together a few different options of how best to embrace some of the discussions the community would like the product to incorporate. at the end of the day we're not sure just yet what the changes will look like, but we're trying to work that out using yours (and others) suggestions.

we do have a rift between members of the community - some would like to see R - > R Q questions exposed to consumers and others would not (http://www.theharperteam.com/blog/our-team/trulia-voices-ano…). unfortunately, we have a lot of things to fix -- the top voices page included -- so please be patient with us.

presently the product is developed to enable home buyers and sellers to get real estate advice, and clearly we need to make some changes to embrace the interests you all have expressed. the trulia team is a big fan of activerain and it's community so i believe emily was trying to be helpful by suggesting a good place to facilitate some of the discussions you're interested in having but are difficult to have given the current product.

again, you've been heard and we're working to find a solution to meet your needs. - Sat Sep 1 2007, 11:01
