Umm, yeah. It has that "feel" artists, bars, 20-30 somehtings, hip music, hipsters walking around pointing at eachothers hip hugging jeans, denying that they are hipsters, while pointing and talking about other hipsters that are not real, but just fakin' it. Word. - Wed May 9 2007, 17:52
Maybe if you look like Sean there! Look cabbies go to Brooklyn - when they are going off work, or if the cab happens to be downtown and on their way there anyway... the way to get a cab to go where you need to go is to JUMP IN! never tell them where you are going until you are inside - it is illegal fo rthem to ask and they can get fined - also if a can ever passes you by, and it clearly is not empty and you feel slighted, you SHOULD REPORT THEM!! link below!! - Wed May 9 2007, 17:46
before my editorial, some fact: Pound for pound, or per capita NYC is the safest city in the world....
that being said it depends what kind of crimes, I mean the upper east side is probably low on murder rates, yet high on white collar tax evasion, lol...
but seriously, overall NYC is pretty dynamic, if I had to pick the safest area in the city I would pick the upper east side 70-86th 1st ave to the park... then again car theft there may be higher, possibly the occassional mugging or rape...but that goes for any city in the world. - Wed May 9 2007, 17:35
Windsor terrace is an awesome little Brooklyn 'hood that is pretty tough to get into. Case in point, it is boxed in on all four sides. So unlike many other brooklyn neighborhoods, like Park Slope - it can't "grow" like the blob and encompass more blocks. To one side greenwood cemetery, to the other Prospect park, then Ft. Hamilton Parkway up to PPW - that's it! It is a golden area near the aprk with cool homes, trees, little parks within it, and prospect park on your doorstep...love this area. - Wed May 9 2007, 17:20
Well, the maintenance is usually figured out ahead of time, so just buy within your means. Co-Ops tend to be higher than condos and can be in greater flux as well. - Wed May 9 2007, 17:16
