I search for a living.... The Trulia insider!
There is a decent club Scene on the Peninsula. The best places are definitely in San Francisco but if you don't have a desire to drive, there are many places in Palo Alto ( Blue Chalk, Rudy's, Nolas), Menlo Park ( BBC), San Mateo (Casbah), Santa Clara ( Avalon), Sunnyvale (Forum). Mountain View has been really happenning the last few years since its downtown got revitalized after Google Invasion. Buddha Bar and Monte Carlo are fun, but the best place is still good old Molly Mc Gees. - Tue Jun 19 2007, 23:36

Northern part of Central park would be the cheapest, but it is also the least safe. So, if you're willing to trade your safety for lower prices, that's a way to go. Otherwise, I would suggest West side over East Side. West Side prices are lower ( but still outrageous) - Fri May 11 2007, 00:19
Winters in Portland are rather mild. It rarely snows, but it generally rains every day. The temperature is generally in lower 40s - upper 50th and you wouldn't see a sunshine for 3 months in raw. Drizzling cold depressing rain. Portland is beautiful in a Fall and Spring, but if you ccan, try to spend the winter time 700 miles down south - Thu May 10 2007, 20:02
