In Los Angeles, and many other municipalities there are no special rules regarding foreclosure sales. The new owner is still bound by the terms of the old lease. If you receive a notice giving you 60 days to move, I suggest that you file a complaint with the LAHD.
If you are not in Los Angeles, the rules may be different. Also, keep copies of your rent checks, and get a receipt, because you will want to be able to prove that you paid rent to the old owner(who might no longer be entitled to collect it).
BTW, who told you to move? The new owner or the old owner? - Thu May 22 2008, 17:35
Smog is in fact worse in Pasadena - but only a certain type. Basically, Pasadena has one of the highest ozone levels in the LA basin. When that ozone reacts with a variety of other elements, it forms a haze as well as being unhealthful by itself.
This is largely because the chemicals that form ozone are blown inland during the day, and are trapped against the mountains, as a previous commenter suggested.
You can confirm this by checking out the data provided on the AQMD website. You will see consistently higher levels of ozone in Pasadena in the afternoons. It is higher in summer because strong sunlight helps to create more ozone. - Thu May 8 2008, 16:47
