Hi Opal! As a long-time resident of Jersey City and a law enforcement officer , I pretty much know the areas pretty well. Like you...I am also 31 years old. As a whole, Jersey City is a great place. That being said...just like any other urban areas, Jersey City has it's great areas and not so great areas. Jersey City is rich with culture and diversity, offering a wide variety of restaurants, activities, etc. In addition, most areas in Jersey City (such as Downtown, Journal Square, and some parts of the Jersey City Heights) are very close to transportation and close to NYC. I agree with Marc the Realtor...if you are looking for an increase within the next two years...not very likely. However, I don't think that is specific to Jersey City...I think it is for real estate as a whole. As a long-term investment, you will DEFINITELY see an increase...particularly because it's so close to NYC. My friend just bought a condo at the Beacon. I, personally, don't care for it too much. I grew up here and was born there when it was a hospital...so it kind of creeps me out. However, I must say, the developer did do a wonderful job. I believe that once the project is fully complete, it will be a wonderful place to live. I am not too crazy about that particular area. Try to shop around...look at condos in the Dowtown (07302), Journal Square (07306 zip code), Jersey City heights areas (07307). Good luck with your search!!!! =) - Tue Jul 29 2008, 21:50
