Not sure about this website in particular, but the sales history of any home is public information that can be found on the county auditor's website. Just find some nearby addresses of similar homes and look them up - obviously it's a bit more complex to get true comps (remember to appreciation in might when looking at old sales prices) but with the resources available online you can get a pretty good idea. Of course the realtors on here will tell you that you NEED their expertise (they do have access to a few cool tools that make this research easier - and a FEW even have the experience that they all like to cite). The reality is that easy access to information online puts a task like finding comps within the reach of anyone willing to do some light research.

Also, I'll second Art's comment about Zillow - cool site but their numbers are not based on actual sales - Tue Jul 22 2008, 20:20
