Maybe in Westbrook Park but that's it. The whole of SE Delco is on the decline...I think you will find the quality of renters to be declining in the next 5-10 years as well. - Sun Jul 27 2008, 20:01

Nothing after 5 years will be a good investment, especially in the current housing market. Unless you're planning on holding on to a place for 7-10 years, don't buy, rent... - Wed Jul 23 2008, 12:28

It depends where in Drexel Hill you are looking. I lived on the Lansdowne/Clifton Heights border and there was a string of armed robberies along Baltimore Pike about 10 years ago. There was also a daylight armed robbery at the 7-11 on Baltimore Pike in Clifton Heights last spring. A section of Drexel Hill is right across a bridge a quarter of a mile from this. Also on my old street there has been an influx of neighbors from the city - some good, most bad. And the bad ones are so bad you wouldn't want them as a neighbor. Lots of smashed and repossessed cars, domestic disturbance visits from the police, a yard full of pit bulls and dog excrement.

And the Upper Darby School District has definitely seen better days. If you have no kids or can afford private school, the sections of Drexel Hill in the middle to the Havertown border are the best places to live. You don't want to be near Lansdowne, Clifton Heights, Baltimrore Pike or Garrett Road. If you can afford Pilgrim Gardens its the best section of DH with Haverford schools and a tight close knit community.

I really loved most of my old neighbors in Drexel Hill, but that whole area is changing and it is not going to be the great place to live that it once was. - Sun Jul 13 2008, 08:29

It's like a shanty town off of RT3 which is a 4 lane highway with some traffic lights. I looked at a house there...one across the street was a bank foreclosure with no windows or light bulbs if that gives you an idea of the type of people living there; next door to that was the prevous owners father - his place looked like Sanford and Son. If its all you can afford, it gets you into decent schools/amenities for a low price, just be aware who your neighbors are... - Wed May 14 2008, 11:21
