One place to consider is "Harbors at Haverstraw": http://www.gdc-homes.com/community_overview_5.htm

They have townhouses and condos with garages, and ferry access that goes directly to Manhattan. I think they are currently offering dollar for dollar matches on upgrades for new units. - Wed Aug 6 2008, 07:26

Can anyone tell me about St. Anthony Schl in Nanuet?

Tom answered:
I didn't go there, but 2 of my neighbors went there from k-8th grade, then went on to Clarkstown South Highschool where they excelled, and then went to Cornell University. That being said, the public schools in the area are very good, I would recommend Clarkstown South or Nanuet highschool over paying for private school. - Wed Jul 9 2008, 04:27

My experience has been that houses have been staying on the market longer than usual in Rockland County because the sellers are very reluctant to reduce their price...and eventually they do get their asking or close to it or just take it off the market. If they are in a hurry to sell, then they may reduce it, but overall the market is somewhat holding compared to the rest of the US, probably because of it's close proximity to NYC and the fact that there is not much room for new single family homes in Rockland County. If it has been listed for the same price for 485, it sounds like they are in no rush. If you like this house, I would offer something like 440, and see what there reaction is? It's likely that they'll just wait until the market gets stronger again in a year or 2. - Thu May 22 2008, 13:33
