Is crime an issue in Brooklyn?

Lana Headley answered:
Crime in general has been reduced in Brooklyn. The NYPD has done a good job in lowering the crime rate. In the area East Flatbush, crime has been lower than in the past years. - Tue May 22 2007, 16:05

The shopping in East Flatbush and Brooklyn in general is great, we practically have everything here. There is a mixture for every origin, like West Indian, African American, Russian, Oriental, Indian, American, Italian and other origins. There is Kings Plaza located on Flatbush Ave and close by there is the Gateway shopping Mall off the belt Parkway. There you can fing Home Depot, Target, BJ's, Old Navy, Circuit City, Staples and restaurants like Boulders Creek, The Olive Garden and Red Lobster. Throughout the area, there are corner Deli's, Grocery stores like Pathmark, Keyfood and there is a big Farmer's Market on Foster Avenue, close to Kings Highway. This area East Flatbush is close to everything. - Mon Apr 23 2007, 15:51

In reference to Parks and recreational areas, there is the Amersfort Park on Avenue J, between East 38th and East 39th Street. There are many other kids parks and pools in close proximity. The Prospect Park is a few minutes away. In these parks they do have running paths and lots of people walk their dogs in the parks. It is a beautiful place to live in East Flatbush. - Mon Apr 23 2007, 15:51

The social scene in East Flatbush and Brooklyn in general is active. In the summer months, there are normally free concerts and sometimes fairs in the bigger parks. The Prospect Park normally has different cultural events often. Families have barbeques and parties in the parks, there is always some type of event. There are different types of restaurants, like Chinese, Mexican, Italian, West Indian, American, Spanish and Fast foods all over. I love East Flabush as I have lived in this area for a very long time and know a great deal about the culture here. - Mon Apr 23 2007, 15:51

Despite the real estate market is softening a bit, home sales are still at a high in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. The length of time homes usually sit on the market in this area, depends on the type of home. There is a large demand for multi dwelling properties in this area, mainly 2 family homes. Also, if the home is in mint condition and priced correct, it may be sold in less than 2 months. - Mon Apr 23 2007, 15:51
