Contrary to words from those who would love to SELL you a home and make a commission, Boca Raton certainly has its share of crime. Every place does. The city does have strict zoning but zoning does not eliminate crime. There ARE areas of Boca Raton that are impoverished - some just off Palmetto Park Road, some in the back roads of Spanish River, some near the downtown area - not far from the library. West Boca has its share of scary housing areas. They are far and few but they DO exist! Boca Town Center Mall has had a few women kidnapped and killed - look it up in google or the news. I agree - also check the Palm Beach County Sheriff's office website - they have a slew of unsolved homicides and unidentified victims. Not all of these crimes happened in Boca, but one should be cautious and aware at all times, whether it is a large city or a small suburb or town. Do your own research and do not rely on the words of others - as one person previously advised. - Sun May 4 2008, 15:24
