Mrs. Rockinblu and I sold our house of 34 years as a FSBO in March of 2008. We moved from Glen Carbon, Il to Austin where our two sons have been living with their families for over 10 years. We finally succumbed to their pressure and all Austin has to offer in the way of being the Live Music Capital of the World. We have downsized from a 3100sf house to a 1150 2/2 apartment in the SoCo area of Austin. We are thrilled to death with our new lives.

Jennifer,
I saw the post below on another site. The Realtor who posted it seems to be a very knowledgeable veteran of RE.
"Also ask your REALTOR for a saturation report. If there are no sales within 25% either side of yours, dropping the price now probably won't help." - Yesterday, 15:26
Melissa,
How about excluding the obvious, which would be honesty, and go from there. Other than that a competitive nature, and determination. Someone who takes an expired or a cancelled listing as a serious failure on his or her part. Someone who doesn't shuffle the blame off onto the seller. Promptness, attention to detail, great communication skills, and actually staying in communication with the client. A clean handkerchief or tissue ready when personally telling the client the buyer backed out. :) - Yesterday, 02:06
Kelly, Kelly, Kelly,
Read your agreement. Go ahead and cancel your agreement, but you will still owe the agent the commission. Might as well keep the agent, and have him/her finish earning it. - Sun Nov 16 2008, 10:54
Hey Myron,
Ya got me impressed, but do you really think it's ethical to go after a seller if she is currently signed with a brokerage? Just wondering. :)
Karen,
As you have already found out, business and friendships can be a difficult situation. Quite honestly from your post, I wouldn't be surprised if the Realtor is wondering herself how she can get rid of you without causing a strain on her husband's friendship with yours. You sound almost as bad of a client as I was. :) Having said that, quite honestly the action you are getting in this market doesn't sound all that bad. You are going into a slow time anyway so I would stick it out for a while longer. Possibly through Jan. - Fri Nov 14 2008, 19:59
