Hello,
Here is an honest answer. There are NO safe areas in Durahm. I would suggest looking into nearby Chatham county. You may actually live. - Mon Jun 9 2008, 19:37

Looking for a place within these High Schools areas

Lisa Cullen answered:
Hello,
We relocated here 2 years ago. I am going to tell you what the realtors will not tell you. ALL the public schools here bus and redistrict every year. So if you have a child going into 9th grade, the chances of him or her staying in that same school for the following year are practically zero. Even if you live in a nice area with expensive homes, your child will be bused to a lower income area. I would suggest North Raleigh and definately a private high school such as Ravenscroft. I made friends with a teacher at Sanderson H.S. and she hates working there because everyone is a juvenile delinquent and has a criminatl record. (I am not kidding). Cardinal Gibbons is another private h.s. and they offer tuition assistance. If I had to do it all over again, I probably would have sent my kids to Cary Christiain Academy and moved to Cary. Out of all the high school in Wake County, I would say that Greenhope HS in Apex, Panther Creek in Apex, or the new h.s. in Chapel Hill would be your best bet. Broughton has a good rep, but I wouldn't want my kids walking by themselves around there. Check out the crime statistics too for Raleigh, they are mind-boggling. We are still renting, because we do NOT want to stay here. Our two kids are in Cardinal Gibbons and costing us a small fortune, but it is the best of the worst. I am not sure where you are relocating from, but all I can say is good luck to you all. - Mon Jun 9 2008, 19:32
