We own a number of homes in the Historic Districts of Mobile. In my opinion the HD's are worth the investment.

Oakleigh is a great area. It is a street by street revitalization. Once you get south of Texas Avenue, it does become dicey. It will take time so buy with the future in mind but pay a realistic price based on today. - Wed May 28 2008, 18:40

Stay away from Pritchard. Most of the apartment complexes will be in West Mobile (west of I-65). There are older smaller ones in the Midtown, downtown area. You need someone who knows the midtown/downtown area real well to consider buying in that area.

We own a number of investment properties in the area. Feel free to contact me with questions. Thanks. - Wed May 28 2008, 18:36

Hi Jeff,
Im going to give you my biased answer. Midtown. Specifically the Historic Districts in Midtown. Here is a link to the Historic Society for Mobile. http://www.mobilehd.org/. If you are going to invest in Midtown, you need an agent or broker who knows this area real well. One street in the wrong direction and your investment could be a bad one. I'd recommend you contact Dale Mims, with Mims Realty. His office is right on Government Street next the Downtown. He has lived there his whole life and knows the area better than anyone I have yet to meet. He has represented us in buying many properties in Midtown.

Here is his contact information:

Feel free to contact me if you need further guidance.

Hi Jeff,

We have classic homes for lease in the hot Midtown area. In my opinion, Midtown will have the best appreciation in Mobile due to the lack of available land in the area. Here is a link to the homes we have:

http://footebrosproperties.com

Most of the homes are available with Lease Options. If we do not have a house that fits, clients of ours might. One in particular I am thinking of is a larger (almost 3000 sf) home in Lafayette. Let me know how I can help!

I completely agree with you. The MLS system should be the one to offer links for virtual tours, open houses, etc. We are real spoiled here in Houston. Our MLS system is, my opinion, far superior to alot of other MLS systems. Check for your self http://har.com.

When we list a property in Mobile, we build our own website for the property and advertise it all over the internet. Check out http://153houston.com. We sold this house in 8 days.

We recently listed another property for sale in Midtown. The website is being built, but you can see VIDEO of the property here: http://www.zipvo.com/listing/000712

With all the new industy and jobs coming to town, Mobile will change for the better. Technology is ariving and it will influence the whole city. But for now, I would suggest contacting an Agent who knows the area you want to live in real well. That will save you alot of time. - Fri Mar 7 2008, 17:02
