Is Parkchester a safe area for a young woman to live? I am moving to NYC in September to student teach.

Young lady, you are wise to ask. Gracefully decline the offer of the apartment and find a more safe residential area, especially for a young, single lady. It is relatively easy to get around the Bronx by car. However, if you won't be driving, just make sure public transportation is easily accessible. It usually is.
