Cheng,

No community is ever truly "sold out". There are always re-sales. It's just a matter of time. - Earlier today
Location, location, location. Centre Place does not have the location to command such lofty prices. I suggest looking into Grande Woods, Timberline, Park Gate, or the Enclave for townhouses at superior North Edison locations that cost about the same or even less than Centre Place. The better schools are in North Edison. - Earlier today

Jefferson Park in Metuchen has 2 BR and sometimes even 3 BR condos with basement below $300k. (On rare occasions, some condos even come with a garage.) They are older and smaller than Edison Manor though. However, the location is superior since it is about 1 mile and 15 min. walk from Metuchen Train Station and it feels more residential with lots of trees and well-kept grounds. Unlike Edison Manor/Victoria Park, Jefferson Park is not near high tension power lines. Metuchen also has an excellent school system. - Earlier today

There are some relatively new single family houses at Central Square (built around 2000). I just saw one listed a few weeks ago in the mid-500's. However, be forewarned that there is little land for these "court homes". Occasionally, builders will knock down an old home to build a new house. They usually go for $600k and above depending on the location and size of the lot. Ask your realtor to be on the look out for those. - Thu May 22 2008, 06:53

We also considered Edison Glen when we started house-hunting. However, we ruled it out for two reasons: 1) too close to high tension power lines which may increase the risk of leukemia in children and 2) previous environmental problems with the nearby brook (search Google).

For about the same price, you should try Village Point as it has the North Edison Schools (far better than South Edison) and the prices for the two bedroom and three bedrooms are comparable to Edison Glen. Most of the Village Point condo come with a garage, something that Edison Glen does not offer. - Tue May 20 2008, 08:07
