Home Seller

Home ownership is the "human" dream. What is the difference between owning a home or renting a home? One way or another you owe somebody money to live there. Why not make some of that money go into your pocket towards ownership. With a mortgage you have the ability to one day own free and clear.. My grandfather did and my father does. Renting never gives you that option. You can improve a home to improve your ownership equity..you can't with a rental. You can paint your bedroom bright pink if you choose...the bank can't say say no, your landlord can. Bottom line is you need a roof over your head. Do you want the rights to it or to just "borrow" it forever? What is happening with the housing market right now has nothing to do with home ownership, it has every thing to do with Americans wanting more then they need and being able to own more then they can afford. I have twice bought a run down house no one else wanted. I worked hard, fixed them up, owed the bank less then what it was worth, and made money on the sale. Not because it was over priced but because I bought what I could afford and worked hard to improve it's value. Renting would not allow me that. - Tue Mar 3 2009, 17:38

Our lease with option to buy is a contract which binds both parties. The buyers agent knew that and still tried to get the other party to default by using information from our other "potential sale" to make his deal look better. He basically tried to steal property out from underneath us. Property he knows we have started a business on. He tried to pry into our private financial information. I have sold plenty of real estate and never been faced with behavior like this. His client happens to be an extremely wealthy corporate attorney from New York that is used to getting what he wants. This agents professionalism was compromised by the promise of money. - Mon Jan 26 2009, 12:03
Yes I am represented by an agent. At this time I think our agent is just trying to keep the negotiations going in hopes of a sale, and then will assist us in taking care of his unethical actions. I am looking for other peoples opinions on the actions of the buyers agent.
The local board of realtors will not give advice, I have already contacted them. I will be contacting the agents broker as soon as I am sure the deal is finished. The potential buyers agent has never produced an agency disclosure to us or our agent either. Doesn't that have to be presented to us in writing? If so at what time in the transaction should it be presented? - Mon Jan 26 2009, 10:22
