Where is your husband going to work?. Orlando is a sprawling area. This information can provide us with a better idea of where to recommend to you. I see you have no choice to move to Orlando so recommending that you not move there was not a good answer for you (sorry). Realistically, you'll be able to find a number of decent areas where crime is not a daily word. - Fri Aug 8 2008, 11:45

We lived in the Conway area for 20 something years....we've seen a lot of changes in Orlando especially that area. We moved because we don't speak spanish and we don't like the crime rate in Orlando. I really would recommend looking elsewhere. I don't think you are going to like the change from Maine to Orlando. How about a coastal area or an area in north Florida? My advice, don't buy in Orlando. Thankfully, we got out of there!....I was born in central Florida and lived there 50 years. - Tue Aug 5 2008, 03:39
