I ask how long they were a realtor and what they did before becoming one. Previous life backgrounds can give you an insight into how they might think and other skills they might pull in to the game.
Also - exactly how will they use the internet to help market your home.
Pin them down on questions like Keith listed - don't take an ambiguous answer or accept a piece of paper slapped in your face with "this is what we do". - Tue Apr 1 2008, 18:25

Kathleen, yes, you understand. A strategy and some insight on the best way to proceed based on past experiences and the expert negotiation skills that almost ever realtor I've ever spoke to professes to have. Not double-talk and get left holding the bag. I was very specific with what I was looking for. He don't have it.
Nobody should apologize for this guy. There is no excuse for a realtor not having the knowledge to advise on how to negotiate a situation like this. Or at least do the work of running to his broker for himself for answers. Good realtors are accountable. Bad ones are slippery and look for excuses and ways to make it not their fault.
Do have the CMAs, we're not off base.
Thanks for all the answers. - Tue Apr 1 2008, 18:14
