Annie, as between Kings Point and Lakes of Delray, both in Delray Beach, I describe Kings Point as being like a Century Village property. Lakes of Delray, although a 55+ community, I find more stylish. As well, the clubhouse which is set to reopen soon, is going through a major renovation, as it was hit during Hurricane Wilma. I heard the price tag on the renovations is $4.5 million, paid for by insurance. To me, Kings Point is depressing, where Lakes of Delray is not. The price point at Lakes of Delray is excellent for what you get, compared to anything else of a comparable size. Of course, you will spend less to be in Kings Point.
As far as Boynton, it has many new developments, as well as older ones. The new ones are country club developments, and there is a lot more land for future development. The price tag and ongoing costs are more than Lakes of Delray, but it is a different lifestyle also. It really depends on what you want.
So, like everything else, the best way to decide is to have a realtor lined up (which I am not) and come down for a vacation. Spend a couple of days running around looking at properties that match the size and price point that you want, and then relax and go over the pros and cons of each to make your decision.
Hope this helps. - Sun Feb 17 2008, 11:02
