Tigard has some nice areas most of them are near where Tigard meets up with neighboring Beaverton and Tualatin. Such as the area around the Washington Square mall and up near the Murry Hill and Scholls Ferry areas. However, a majority of the city sufferes from a severe lack of basic things like sidewalks. In many areas Sidewalks on higher traffic roads are non-existant, creating very dangerous situations for pedestrians. As an example there are apartment complexes on 72nd Ave near the 217 freeway that are a less than a 10 minute walk from Movie theaters, McDonalds and shopping. The proximity to 3 different major roads means 72nd Ave gets a high volume of traffic, but the street doesn't have sidewalks between the apartment complexes and the Theaters, and there is a blind hill to boot. Needless to say this creates a very dangerous situation for the children living in those apartments. There are similar issues on Hall Blvd another high volume street that is lacking in sidewalks as well.
Also, the city of Tigard lacks the vision and transparency in how it is run compared to the neighboring cities (I suggest looking at the websites for the different cities you are comparing) - Mon May 19 2008, 20:23
