What is it really like to live in Armonk if you are down to earth and don't care all that much about money?

Riley, What has been your impression since moving into Armonk over the summer? We're also way below the $1M mark and are considering Armonk too, but are considered about the pressures of living in such an affluent community (having the smallest house in the neighborhood) while raising 2 young children. How does school district affect value of homes? For example some homes in Tarrytown are part of Irvington

Gizmo - seems like almost all of westchester is high and it's not exactly correlated to the school district. For example half of Elmsford is Pocantico (great schools, low taxes). Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow are high taxes, but the middle/high schools are subpar (in terms of scores, graduation rates, % going to college) compared to neighboring towns like irvington/briarcliff. maybe it's just a westchester thing?? - Mon Mar 17 2008, 06:48
