You may want to seriously consider the Ocala/Gainesville area. Both Marion County (Ocala) and Alachua County (Gainesville) have a great deal to offer. Both are consistently highly recommended for both retirement and family living. Great schools up here (including private schools), and great real estate values compared to coastal areas. Ocala area is the "Horse Capital of the World" and Gainesville is home to the prestigious University of Florida and is a top medical center and cultural center.
Just an alternative to consider (we moved up here from the Tampa area 10 yrs ago and vastly prefer it to the Tampa/St. Pete area for a wide variety of reasons) - Wed Apr 9 2008, 14:19
