Yes, there are true buyers out there now. And those buyers are likely to be more serious because they're looking now.
If you wait two months (when you're ready to sell now): (1) You'll miss the serious buyers in January and February; (2) Interest rates probably will go up (they've been rising for more than a month now), making your home (and all properties) less attractive; (3) You'll be competing against more properties out there; and (4) Your possible dream home will already have been bought by someone else.
Disadvantages to putting your home on the market now? The only one, really, is that if your home isn't properly priced it'll sit on the market and be perceived as "stale" by the time others put their homes on the market. However, that's not a function of the time of year, but rather of properly pricing it now.
