Hi Roger, your situation is not uncommon as many people have less than great credit due to job loss, divorce, etc. The good news is with a letter of explanation and some good contacts, you can find a nice place to rent. You can start by visiting my rental home page on my website at :
The default search is for San Ramon, but you can just change the search for Danville or whatever city you are looking to live. If you would like to talk further about how to best position yourself for a rental application, please contact me.

We have had 3 residential lease listings close within a half mile of 2243 Gladwin Dr, Walnut Creek within the last 12 months. Here is what I found on the MLS: 1102 Westmoreland Cir. ($2,500), 1120 Glengarry Dr ($2,500) and 2368 Lariat Ln ($3,050). Of course rents will reflect condition and amenities and possibly owner-paids, etc. I would say it is safe to assume rents would be in that range of $2,500 to $3,000 per month. You might check Craigslist.com to see what FRBOs are going for. You may find rents a bit lower there.
Have you purchased a property in the area for a rental? Are you considering it? Those are a few questions I would be curious to know to best answer your question.
