Here in the metro area it is easy to find out what is going on in any community. Contact the St Paul police department's community service area and they will provide you with the information you seek. You might also want to contact the Metro Council for additional community information such as transportation, community events and neighborhood involvement. Liz 612-986-4105... more

The area is fairly safe. The only time that it can get a little iffy is during school events, like when rivals play eachother in basketball or football, but even then, there is a lot of police presence to keep things under control. Since it is very near Concordia College, there is a lot of students walking around the area. Since the parking lots for the schools are pretty visible from the busy streets, there isn't a lot of risk that if you were to find yourself alone, walking out to your car, that anything is going to happen to you. I work for the police department, and can't recall very many police calls to that immediate area.... more
I am not an expert on this, but I believe that police calls on the property would be a matter of public record... you should only have to go down to the police station and ask.
As for insurance, there is a C.L.U.E. Personal Property Report that you can order however it is not free: http://www.choicetrust.com/servlet/com.kx.cs.servlets.CsServlet?channel=welcome&subchannel=clue
If all else fails, you could contact the Minnesota Department of Commerce, who handles the insurance industry, and they could point you in the right direction: http://www.state.mn.us/portal/mn/jsp/home.do?agency=Commerce
