On the southeast border of the state, and they go all the way down. The first beach is Sandy Hook. The first beautiful beach and my favorite is Spring Lake which is Exit 98 on the Garden State Parkway. The parkway goes by the mile -- so -- if you live near Exit 120, you have 22 miles to Exit 98. The shore goes all the way down to the beginning of the parkway, down in Cape May, about an hour south of Atlantic City, which is Exit 38.
Other beaches of note include Pt. Pleasant which has amusement parks, Belmar, more of the young day tripper scene, and Wildwood, and Long Beach Island. They are scattered about. Spring Lake is much quieter.
