If I were you I would live on James Island or West Ashley. The traffic from North Charleston and Summerville to downtown is rough during the morning and afternoon rush hours. Also, I saw that you mentioned you would be a first time home buyer. As long as you buy before July of 2009 you would be eligable for the tax credit that is part of the Housing Act of 2008.
This is a link to that information: http://blog.rehava.com/housing_act_2008

Anyone know about the noise level at Mira Vista condominiums, James Is?

Answer by Ashleigh Collins: I live in Mira Vista now. They are quiet and have a great gym and pool.

My husband and I live in NYC and want to move to the Charleston area. He is a professional musician teacher

Answer by Ashleigh Collins: Hi,
I think that buying a home in the Eastside part of downtown Charleston is your best bet. This is actually a great time to do so because of the plans to re-develop Marion square. This project is supposed to revitalize the eastside part of the city making property values in that area increase.

There is more information on this project on our blog http://blog.rehava.com.

PLEASE HELP US FIND THE RIGHT SC AREA FOR OUR FAMILY. Looking to move from Southern California to South

Answer by Ashleigh Collins: Hi,
I live in Charleston and I think that you would love the area. We have beaches and great schools. I actually grew up here and did dance class and horseback riding. My little sister did ice skating and gymnastics, so there are definately plenty of options . I have actually been to Bowman a few times. It is about 45 minutes to 1 hour away. If you are interested, I would like to invite you to go online to www.rehava.com and use our search tool. It is an interactive map of South Carolina. You can click on different areas and see whats for sale. I think this would help you decide what area is best for you and your family. Also, if you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me ashleigh@rehava.com and Good Luck!
