One way to identify a knowledgeable foreclosure specialist in the real estate market is to google "foreclosures" and include the name of the city. Specialists' websites are often picked up by search engines and they often lecture to the realtor organizations on the subject.

Hi Jeff,

You can go to the tax collector's website to get info about upcoming Property Tax foreclosures. You'll have to spend a fair amount of time sorting out the data to just get the address for the property so I recommend using an inexpensive service like or

There are many resources to locate foreclosed properties. You can access the Pinellas or Hillsborough Property Appraiser's websites, contact banks directly to see if you can get a list of their foreclosed properties or visit websites that specialize in foreclosed properties. If you find a property that you like be sure that you take an inspector with you when you preview it. You are going to be buying it "as is" and may not have a second opportunity to review the property. Many foreclosures are NOT values. So be sure you know what you are buying. Time between the final judment and auction varies depending on the lenders so find out who actually owns the property and contact them for details. Hiring a real estate attorney or realtor is a must. If you need assistance with the process and finding the right property then work with a realtor that knows the foreclosure process. A knowledgeable foreclosure realtor knows how the different lenders handle their foreclosures and it will make the process much easier for you. Good luck.

Kiss many frogs, find a prince or a princess. If you're doing this the "conventional" way you have to bid through a licensed FL realtor. Find one you like that knows the market in which you wish to buy. Since you said "properties" I assumy you're an investor, so find a realtor who also invests, or has done so enough to know how to guide you. No matter how much experience you have, always listen to others. You make the decision, but get wise counsel on every deal.

Maybe before you start looking to buy you should make sure you have money available - financing will be difficult if you expect to obtain loans to buy these properties. Good luck.
