Any more pictures to post? Is this the area of Key West that had the tide surge after the hurricane?

Asked by Kevin Connell, Key West, FL Fri Apr 10, 2009

I'm very interested in investing in property in Key West but I'm not familiar with the island except for Old Town and that seems to be way out of my budget. I was told there is a much lower area that flooded badly after a hurricane. Any idea where I would want to stay away from? Thanks

Kevin,
Most of the "New Town" area was inundated with flood waters. That being said, the highest areas are a ridge near the Eagle Ave, Duck Ave, and Flaglers street areas. There is also another ridge in the Staples ave area that did not flood. There are also some new developments where a lot if fill was brought in and the homes are built up on piers. I have a flood map in a pdf file that I could e-mail to you. Just let me know how to get it to you.
