I admire your desire wanting to work with top-producing agents. However, I think you should not overlook the newer agents with great reputation in your area. A driven newer agent will work very hard to earn your business (not saying top agents won't, of course), so don't automatically write them off - even the top agents start from the bottom up. . .
The best way is to ask for recommendations from your friends, families, colleagues, and even some fellow sellers. Then select and interview a few; ask them for their marketing plan, find the best that match your criteria and whom you feel comfortable to communicate and work with. Also, don't just pick the one who say they can sell your house for an unreasonable price, I always wonder the wisdom of those for both agents and sellers.

Timothy gave you the info for Circle of Excellence, but those are the Southside association awards. If you want an award- winning agent from the Peninsula, we are in a different Realtor association. Virginia Peninsula Assoc of Realtors just announced their award winners for 2007. It was in the Daily Press, but not yet posted on VPAR.org that I could see,
There are alot of top agents who don't even put in for the yearly awards-- If you need a good one, I would be gald to refer you.
