I wrote a couple of blogs on property taxes that may help you. This is for Riverside County. There is more to be concerned with that just the percentage of the taxes. Hope this helps!

Hi Larry:

According to the tax assessors web site, the property located at 2500 Griffin Way, Corona, has a general purpose tax rate of 1.14281% (which you would multiple times the amount you are paying for the property.) The special tacked on items (sometimes called CFD’s, Mellow Roos, ect. for that property are: (See below) you would add them to your taxes (don’t forget you would multiply them by 2 so the total would be \$126.76) Then you would add the two numbers together to determine what your total tax for the year would be. Then you would divide that number by the amount you paid and that will give you your tax rate.

The reason for the numbers are so that you can call to find out if there will be any changes in these charges and/or if they have an end date.

FLD CNTL STORMWATER/CLEANWATER (800) 439-6553 \$1.87 \$1.87
CSA 152-CORONA STORMWATER (888) 683-5234 \$2.91 \$2.91
CORONA LLMD 84-2 ZONE 6 (951) 736-2451 \$34.33 \$34.33
CORONA LIGHTING MAINT DST 84-1 (800) 439-6553 \$19.66 \$19.66
MWD STANDBY WEST (866) 807-6864 \$4.61 \$4.61

Each home is determined by this method, that is why there really isn't a set answer.

I hope you found this helpful

Diana, where can I get the rates for the tacked items a property might have? Where did you get the charges for the items above?

The tax rate for the state of California because of Prop. 13 is 1% of the sales price. This rate is effected by many miscellaneous tax costs such as: Mesquito abatement, Municipal Water, etc. When those costs are figured in the tax base is around 1.25% of the sales price. If the property has any special assessment on it , which can be called Mello-Roos or CFD (Community Facilities District) that will increase the tax base rate %. A great site to visit is http://www.boe.ca.gov/proptaxes/proptax.htm to find out many questions you might have.
