I moved to Howell 23 years ago from North Jersey and it was I best decision I have ever made. I raised my children here. Both of them went through the school system here from kindergarten through High School. All the schools are excellent and the Freehold Regional High School District is one of the best having many options for your children to chose from. Both of my sons attended college and both have master degrees in their chosen fields.Yes, there are many different areas of Howell and they all do vary in some way or another, with rural areas and not so rural areas, older communities and newer communities. My office is also located in Howell and a local realtor would be able to serve you best. Feel free to check out my website for additional information on the town, schools and my company.

Hi Lee,
Howell is a great town to live in. I am a resident of Howell and my office is on the Howell/Freehold border. All the schools have good repuations, here are some websites so you can compare them:
http://www.greatschools.net/
http://www.howell.k12.nj.us/
http://www.frhsd.com/mambo/

Let me know what you are looking for in a home (price, bedrooms, baths, style, etc) and I would be happy to direct you to the communities that would best suit you. Howell is a family friendly town with many activities, parks and close to the Jersey shore. In fact, Howell was rated in the top 100 best places to live by CNN money in 2008:
http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bplive/2008/snapshot…

If you would like to visit my website you can also get information on neighborhoods, schools and perform a home search.

Thanks,
Heather Daccurso

As of today, there are 328 homes offered for sale in Howell, and another 51 that have contracts at this time. Sales are slightly ahead of last year, based upon closed sales stats in the Monmouth - Ocean MLS. There is a high number of foreclosures in Howell and this has had a downward pressure impact on pricing in this area. Howell actually leads the county in foreclosure actions.

We have a snail mail package that contains community guides from a variety of sources. We are happy to mail this package out to you. It includes a variety of event, family, park and children’s activity guides, local area print publications, maps, neighborhood reports, closed sale data, real estate trend reports, and we can include active listings. It’s yours, free, upon request. (732) 530-7755. Just ask for client relations. You don’t have to be our client to receive this. But…

We have assisted buyers relocating from New York (Staten Island, Brooklyn, in particular) to the Freehold, Howell, and Manalapan areas. If you are set on Howell, we are pleased to provide you a wealth of information that can help you understand the various areas of Howell to assist you in finding a home that is right for you. If you wanted to consider other towns along the Route 9 corridor, information for all of these communities is available upon request. Some buyers coming from Staten Island may commute via train, bus, or drive to the city or another area of NY or North Jersey and express interest in comparing communities along the corridor.

Howell is a large town, both in population and land size. Ramtown, mentioned earlier, is an unincorporated section of Howell.

Recent Challenges:

Budget challenges resulted in a request this week that municipal employees forfeit 2 weeks pay. http://www.app.com/article/20090224/NEWS01/902240340/1004/NEWS01

There is a special school election scheduled for March 10th asking the voters to approve a budget increase. Without the approval, there is some talk that 2 of the elementary schools could be forced to close. http://www.app.com/article/20090213/NEWS01/902130327/1004/NEWS01

Every town, everywhere, has it’s challenges. We will always share what we know, and point you to the source for more information to assist you in your search for community and housing information.

We love Howell and many of the surrounding communities. Freehold Raceway Mall is close, and one of the best. It’s an easy jaunt to Six Flags, the Outlets and more. Anything you want, you can find on Route 9. There are many parks, with Turkey Swamp being one of the most sizeable and notable, including camping and riding. The beach is a reasonable commute, making shore and water activities easy for a day activity.

Come explore Howell and surrounding New Jersey areas.

Hello Lee,

The first step in buying a home is to meet with a real estate professional in their office and have a buyer consultation. At that time you and your agent will discuss your needs and wants as well as price range that you will be comfortable with. Also meeting at the same time with a mortgage professional is a good idea so that you are ready to take advantage of any great opportunities available to you.

It's great to look at picture on the internet, but a meeting with your buyer's agent is extremely important in achieving a smooth and successful home purchase.

If you are interested in my services, please call me or email so that we can set an appointment and I will be happy to help you.

Very truly yours,

Hi Lee,

As a full time agent, parent and resident of Howell, I can assure you this is a great place to live and raise your children!
Howell Township is 63 square miles and has many different communities to choose from.
Depending on your price range and criteria, there are many options and opportunities for you at this time.

Northern Howell is nice, homes tend to have more property and are spaced out. There are 2 newer schools in this section of town. Aldephia Elementary School, which is k-5 and Memorial Middle School right next door housing grades 6-8. There are also 3 other elementary schools as well , Griebling, Ardena and Land O' Pines with an additional Middle School, Howell Middle School North. There are many single family, condo's and townhouses for sale and priced realistically for this market.

Candlewood and Salem Hill are also very popular areas in town for home buyers. These homes are more centrally located in Howell and have Elementary Schools in their developments as well, such as Tauton, Newbury and Aldrich. Very nice homes with decent sized lots and reasonably priced.

Ramtown, is considered South Howell, bordering Brick and has close access to the Parkway. Also having elementary Schools such as Greenville and Ramtown. Children in this area of town attend Howell South Middle School. Very nice homes, may have smaller lot sizes and larger developments.

The High School districting in Howell Township is a little more complicated. Howell is part of Freehold High School Regional District. A high ranking, sought after school district. But, not all of Howell students attend Howell HS. Depending on the area of town you live, you could be districted for Howell, Freehold Township or Colts Neck High Schools. You would need to check and confirm with Transportation before purchasing if your preferred a particular HS as these do change from time to time.. Also, each High School has different specialties such as Pre-Law, Pre-Med, Journalism, Gifted and Talented, World Languages, the list goes on...if your child is interested in any of the specialities these schools have to offer, they are allowed to test out for them. If accepted they will be bused to and from school, Marlboro, Manalapan and Freehold Boro HS are part of the district too.

Sports programs are awesome here and parents go above and beyond to provide beautiful, clean facilities for our children. There are many other activites your children can take advantage of. We take pride in our town and all it has to offer.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like more information or would like to view homes in the area. If you like, you may browse through my website at

If you are not familiar with the area, take the time and check out a few neighborhoods, look at everything that is important to your lifestyle--shopping, parks, transportation, dine at local eateries etc., then take it from there, you'll be glad you did. Ultimately the decision will be all yours-- opinions are just that, firsthand peeks are always best.

I live in Ramtown and its really great here. Close to the Parkway, Route 9 and 195. 2 elementary schools and the middle school are a few blocks away. 10 minutes to the beach. You really get everything here (PS I am looking to sell but that's only because of a move out of state ... not a refelction on the area lol)

Howell is huge and the communities are all very different. Check out the schools via my website to see which will meet your needs. Then, if you want to proceed to talk about the different areas, feel free to contact me. Your pricepoint and geographic preferrances will help narrow down your search for a home in that town. Other towns you might want to consider (with lower taxes) are Brick and Pt. Pleasant.
