Chicago is a very vast area similar to New York. There are quite a few diversified neighborhoods in the city, all with its own uniqueness. It just so happen that I'm established in the area of Hyde Park, Morgan Park, Bronzeville and others (sort of like the neighborhood professional). You are most certainly welcomed to visit my website @ http://www.TimHaywood.net, to see if there is anything there that will satisfy your needs. If I can be of service to you, please send me an email.
THANKS and GOOD LUCK
Tom is right. Chicago is a vast and varied city, and there are many "diversified" neighborhoods one could recommend to you. There are too many variables that must be specified in order to be able to make suitable recommendations for you and your situation.
1) Your budget
2) Your need for certain amenities, like access to public transportation, walking-distance shopping, etc.
3) How far you are willing to commute for work
4) Your lifestyle preferences (condo, single family home, yard, no maintenance, etc. etc. etc.)
Hope to hear from you so we can help you out a little more specifically.
