Pierzasta, Both Buyer and Seller in Brooklyn, NY

Considering buying in Long Island,

While on a tight budget, we are planning to buy a house in LI. We need to commute to all boroughs on a daily basis, have very young kids, I need to take college classess... Which town would one recommend us as a nice, affordable place to raise a family, with safe neighborhoods, easy commute to NYC, not so high taxes, good public schools, etc.

I know that the opinion agents are permitted to give is restricted by real estate laws but please, help! Ever grateful, P.

Judging what might be your biggest challenge, I would suggest you check out the Long Island Railroad and see what areas offer the best connections to get you where you need to be.

Every area has wonderful homes, every area has homes that are over our heads and every area has homes that we would not want to live in....Find the best location for your lifestyle and within that location, there will be the home you will be happy in.

Port Washington is the perfect place for you and your family!
We are a waterfront town with top ranked schools, and we have the best LIRR train line into/out of New York City and easy access to all highways.
It is a wonderful, family oriented community with a wide variety of housing options.

Wow! After answering your first question I saw this one. Homes in this area are very affordable with fairly low taxes. The Ronkonkoma train station has one of the largest parking lots in the entire system, is free to park there (unless you want to park in the garage) and no residential sticker is required. There are several express trains that make 3 or 4 stops into Manhattan. You can go to Sperling's Best Places on the net to get information about neighborhoods, schools, etc. I would be happy to speak with you and provide you with any additional information you require. Look at the housing prices vs your budget. Take into account the travel expenses and taxes. This will help direct you to the right locations and housing choices.

I think East Northport would be a great selection for you. Affordable homes, railroad station, convenient to stores and schools, low taxes, nice parks and library with a separate children's library wing-plus just minutes from the waterfront Village of Northport!

Daniel is right. I've had many Buyer Clients that find the Wantagh schools very desirable. My office is actually conveniently located in Wantagh right in front of the Long Island Railroad Station.
