We lived near Hershey for several years, and still have many family members in the area. That area of central Pa has continued to grow and thrive, & housing developments have filled many former 'cow pastures' that supplied milk to the Hershey Chocolate Factory. It continues to be a beautiful and diverse community, with small towns and (still) rural areas vying with growing small cities.
Ask yourself some questions! What is most important to you?
Short commute? Municipal services like public water and sewer systems?or some acreage around your home to lend privacy?
Easy access to cultural events, and intown conveniences? Charming older home or a neighborhood of similar homes that are relatively new? What about schools for your children? lower Tax rates?
ALL of these things are available, but probably not all on the same property. (unless you have an unlimited budget!)
If your potential move time is not looming too close, plan to take a trip and aquaint yourself with the neighborhoods. A good Realtor can be a GREAT help, and there are a lot of good ones out there. Helping people answer find answers to those questions is what we do. Look for someone who you are comfortable working with, and who has experience in the areas you ar considering.
Then ask your questions and enjoy the hunt!
Of course - seriously though do you have chidren or schools to consider? This is a factor not to be left out!
You are looking in an area that has some wonderful amenities and schools. Get all the school data together for specific stats. I provide that sort of info FREE on my site.
Another item is the weather or should I say the time of the season! It is ALWAYS easier to move in good weather so PLAN your season well D.K.!
Anyway you look at this question you also need to understand that the local market is providing a really good playing field for buyers these days. You need a Realtor to guide you through the possible pitfalls.
Hope that helps!
