I'd like to get my house listed on Trulia. Do I have to list with an agent to do it?

Hi Brett,
You don't have to list your property with an agent for it to appear on Trulia (though Trulia believes agents are a very important part of real estate transactions and bring a lot of experience and expertise to the table).
All you need to have is a Web page that we can index. The easiest and fastest route is to use a service like which lets you create and syndicate a real estate listing really quickly. Trulia has a data relationship with Postlets, so your postlets listing should appear on Trulia quickly.

Note that some companies will offer to add your FSBO information to their site at no cost to you. Most especially companies from outside of your town or even outside of your state will offer to "help". Why? Because they will generally sell your information to one or more agents right back in the very city where you're located. It may be free to you but their only intent in the end is try and get one or more referral fees from agents in your area, and should you decide to list, you might very well end up with a very hungry agent, not necessarily and very good agent.

Hi Brett! The answer is of course, no. Postlets feeds Trulia, as do most Realtors' websites. If you have the mind set and the persistence, you can successfully sell your house privately. Remember, as a private seller you can expect lower offers than a represented seller will bring you. Everybody loves a deal and buyers will want you to cough up the real estate fees you are saving.

Also be aware that all disclosure and fair housing laws apply to you as well.
